Meet Amber, the driving force behind Kona Dog Wear!
If you've been looking for the best, American made, exclusively designed, K9 tested dog gear, then you are in the right place. Amber has over 25 years of sewing experience, 2 decades worth of professional sewing, manufacturing, product design and testing, hands on experience. She holds a degree in Fashion Merchandising & Design and was formally trained in textile and garment manufacturing.
In addition to being a sewing expert, Amber has also been training to be a detection dog handler for the last several years as well as studying to be a Certified Professional Canine Nutritionist.

Our products have been tested by the top LEO K9s and sport dogs for strength and durability that will stand the test of time.

Every piece of gear that leaves the KDW studio is handmade, inspected and packaged with the utmost care.
We use only the finest materials that have proven to stand up to the everyday demands of an active sport dog and will turn heads wherever your pup may go.
All collars and leashes are made with water, mold, mildew & UV resistant polyester webbing, printed in the US with our exclusive hand drawn designs. Hardware is custom made just for us and is rust proof for salt water adventures.
But the best part, machine washable! After a long adventurous day, don't worry about scrubbing your dog's muddy collar, just toss it in the washing machine with your dirty towels or stinky gym socks and you're good to go.
Kona
The Babe that started it all! Kona is a parvo-virus survivor living with kidney disease. She is the most spoiled dog and lives a Boujee life. This company was started as a means to keep up with her constantly outgrowing and destroying cheap collars from the store. It quickly became her life line to fund all of her medical care. Kona is a pure bred working line K9 and is trained in Narcotics Detection just like her father a former government agent K9. Kona holds many awards for detection and is also titled in Dock Diving. She is a 7 year old Chocolate Lab born in Montana.
Kaia
The most perfect doggo! Kaia comes from sport dog lines and was the best friend that Kona needed during her puppy years. Kaia is a most excellent dock diver, currently holding 2 titles as well as numerous AKC Scent Work Titles. She lives in the water and has never meet a bird she didn't want to eat. Kaia is a 7 year old pure bred Yellow Lab born in Arizona. In 2026 we added demo dog to her resume, Kaia's job is to help young handlers learn the skills it takes to become a detection dog handler.
Hilo
Hilo, the most beautiful brindle mutt I ever did see. he was supposed to be my sport dog prospect. Turns out he would rather just stay at home and be my shadow. Hilo does excel at being an excellent guard dog and loves protecting not only his human sisters but his canine ones as well. Hilo is a 4 year old mixed breed, Australian Cattle Dog, American Pitbull Terrier and German Shepherd dog, rescued from the Arizona desert.
Kiko
Kiko, the smallest baby girl in our pack. She's a spunky little pup with attitude and a side-eye that could shoot laser beams. Kiko is the littermate of Hilo but with a completely different personality. She loves to go on outings and has recently started firearms detection training. Kiko loves her stuffies and chasing birds. She is a 4 year old mixed breed, Australian Cattle Dog, American Pitbull Terrier and German Shepherd dog, rescued from the Arizona desert.
Vander
Vander is the newest member of the pack, a field line pure bred black lab from North Carolina. He will be trained as an explosives detection K9. We have high hopes that he will excel in this field and earn his certifications as an EOD detection dog around the end of 2026. He has been home for one week and already showing great potential as a detection dog.
